Mid-Level Groundwater Modeler, Richland, WA 25-40-WA06

INTERA Incorporated is looking for a Mid-Level Groundwater Modeler to join our dynamic team in Richland, Washington. This role provides a great opportunity to build on your existing expertise while continuing to grow under the mentorship of recognized industry leaders in subsurface flow and contaminant transport modeling. Your work will be a valuable contribution to developing innovative solutions for the Hanford Site, one of the largest and most complex environmental cleanup efforts in the world.

Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of this position is to provide support on flow and transport modeling projects under the direction of INTERA’s senior staff. This includes:

  • Compiling, synthesizing, and analyzing data to develop conceptual site and numerical models
  • Performing numerical flow and transport modeling of the subsurface
  • Creating inputs and postprocessing and evaluating outputs from groundwater models
  • Preparing reports and technical presentations for clients, regulators, and other stakeholders
  • Implementing and complying with Department of Energy Quality Assurance/Quality Control procedures
  • Supervising junior staff

 

Required Qualifications

  • MS or PhD in Civil/Environmental Engineering, Hydrogeology, Geosystems, or a related field with emphasis on numerical modeling of subsurface processes
  • 4+ years of demonstrated experience
  • Previous experience with developing MODFLOW-based groundwater models
  • Experience in computer programming (Python, R, FORTRAN, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience with PEST/PEST++ decision support modeling software

Expected salary range:  $96,000 — $139,000 depending on degree and experience
