Surface Water Resources Modeler / Planner 2017-22-FL02

INTERA Incorporated is seeking at Surface Water Resources Modeler / Planner to provide support to the water resources group in INTERA’s Tampa, Florida, office (located in Lutz, Florida).  A key responsibility of this position is to support the development of hydrologic and hydraulic models for a variety of issues including long-range water supply plans, minimum flows and levels, impact analysis, and flooding. In addition, familiarity with GIS tools and relational databases are important. The candidate must be willing to work as part of a team. Although rare, light fieldwork may be required. Other job duties will include significant technical writing assignments, report preparation, and technical presentations.

 

Required Skills:

  • Must be able to work as part of the team and follow QA procedures for various types of numerical analyses. 
  • Familiarity with surface water and groundwater modeling tools essential; HEC-RAS, HSPF, ICPR, SWMM, MODFLOW experience highly desirable.
  • Experience with hydraulic and hydrologic analyses required, preferably with associated fieldwork experience.
  • Experience with data collection of hydrologic data from a wide variety of sources (including the USGS and Florida’s Water Management Districts) is desirable.
  • Skills in statistical analysis of hydrologic response.  Familiarity with statistical analysis software (SPlus, R, Matlab, Statistica) is desirable but not required.
  • Skills in long-range water resources planning are highly desirable.
  • Skills in minimum flows and levels or environmental flow assessments are highly desirable.
  • GIS skills required, including preparation of maps for technical publications.
  • Preference will be given to applicants that have strong quantitative analysis skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.

 

Required Experience:

  • Two to five years of applicable experience preferred, with primary emphasis on surface water hydrology.
  • Master of Science or Master of Engineering degree with emphasis in watershed hydrology, hydraulics, or a similar field is desirable.
