Vadose Zone Modeling Specialist, Richland, WA 2019-03-WA02

Job Description

A successful candidate will provide fate and transport modeling expertise to support INTERA projects. 

A key responsibility of this position is to perform vadose zone modeling tasks, requiring knowledge of numerical computer methods, soil physics, and vadose zone modeling codes and interfaces. Additionally, they must have a clear understanding of hydrogeologic principles and practices in developing appropriate conceptual models of environmental systems. Must be able to follow directions and QA procedures for groundwater and/or vadose zone fate and transport modeling tasks. Expertise with groundwater fate and transport models is not required but highly preferred. Other job duties may include report preparation and technical presentations.

Required Qualifications

  • 2-10 years of applicable experience preferred, with primary emphasis on vadose zone and/or groundwater modeling
  • Must have hands-on experience developing and implementing numerical flow models
  • BA/BS degree in Engineering or Geology required
  • MS or PhD in Hydrogeology or Civil Engineering with an emphasis in soil physics, groundwater hydrology and/or numerical modeling is preferred
  • Exemplary verbal and written communication skills
  • U.S. citizenship is required to fulfill government contract requirements
