Job Description
The primary responsibility of this position is to provide support for groundwater and vadose zone modeling projects, and general hydrogeologic analysis under the direction of INTERA’s senior modelers/hydrogeologists. This includes the development and application of saturated flow and transport models, vadose zone flow and transport models, and multiphase models. The position will include using high-performance computing for simulation. The position requires knowledge of numerical methods, flow and transport modeling codes, interface tools, and other modeling tools. You should also have a solid understanding of hydrogeological principles and practices. Expertise with groundwater fate and transport models is not required but preferred. Other job duties will include working to quality assurance/quality control procedures for modeling, modeling report preparation, and technical presentations to clients, regulators, and other interested parties.
Required Qualifications
- BS/BA in Engineering or Geology or closely related field that includes training in partial differential calculus and numerical solution methods
- U.S. Citizenship due to project requirements
Preferred Qualifications
- MS in Hydrogeology, Civil Engineering or a similar field with an emphasis in soil physics, groundwater hydrology and/or numerical modeling
- 2-10 years of applicable experience with a primary emphasis on vadose zone and/or groundwater modeling
- Hands-on experience developing, implementing, and documenting numerical flow and transport models
